Delivery Director – Core Tech | Games Studio | Cambridge / Remote Working | £100,000 - £120,000 DOE. 

12 Month FTC

We are working with a leading client in the gaming industry who is looking for an experienced Delivery professional to lead IT and Technical Delivery across their core technology team. You will be overseeing the delivery across cross functional teams, including IT, Cyber, Engine and game development teams.

This is a key role, focused on driving the development, transformation, and execution of operational strategy for technical teams, delivering business, customer, and player value.

About the Role:

As the Delivery Director in their core tech team, you’ll be working closely with senior leadership to enhance delivery capabilities across the studio’s technology and game production teams. You will collaborate with Delivery Partners, Team Managers, and Studio Leadership to create delivery forecasts, drive continuous improvement, and provide leadership with clear updates on how the department is progressing towards its goals.
This role is highly influential within the studio, guiding the strategic direction of production for the Core Tech team while ensuring alignment with the studio’s overall production best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of operational strategy for the Core Tech team.
  • Establish effective work systems across the business unit, coordinating multi-team efforts and ensuring seamless reporting and communication.
  • Implement accountability processes where teams plan, review, and track their commitments while learning from successes and failures.
  • Diagnose and resolve delivery issues efficiently, ensuring timely solutions.
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed on project commitments and delivery progress.
  • Align Core Tech’s capabilities with strategic objectives to effectively plan for current and future projects.
  • Drive leadership discussions around team growth, workforce allocation, and hiring projections.
  • Manage conflicts within and between teams, promoting psychological safety, constructive feedback, and healthy conflict resolution.
  • Work with Core Tech leadership to empower teams and foster autonomy within the group.
  • Collaborate with senior production leaders to introduce cutting-edge delivery practices based on Lean, Agile, and Systems Thinking methodologies.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for Core Tech, ensuring alignment with studio-wide best practices and providing regular updates to senior leadership.
  • Balance hands-on delivery work with strategic leadership, driving transformative changes at the Core Tech leadership level.
  • Manage the department’s P&L, ensuring correct allocation of operational expenditure.
  • Provide line management for Delivery Leads, offering pastoral care, career development, and performance management, while mentoring junior production personnel to enhance their skills and capabilities.

What We're Looking For:

  • An interest in the gaming industry and the technology that drives it, with a focus on product development at every level.
  • Experience in a Technical Delivery Manager role or similar (Head of Product and Project Delivery, Delivery Lead, Head of Delivery type roles) in a B2C Environment
  • Extensive experience leading hands-on delivery using Agile, Lean, and/or Systems Thinking methodologies.
  • Experience ideally within Gaming, entertainment, streaming or a B2C product focused tech / software environment
  • Experience overseeing both development and IT projects, with a background in driving transformation / operational strategy in tech teams 
  • Proven track record managing complex deliveries across multiple teams.
  • Deep understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and a history of successful collaboration with Engineering, Infrastructure, Cyber and development teams 
  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes for the business and the Core Tech team.
  • Experience working in scaled delivery environments and with distributed teams.
  • A focus on value-driven outcomes rather than project metrics.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion.

Circa £100,000 - £120,000

12 month FTC, with an immediate start ideally.

This role is mostly remote, with occasional visits a couple of times per month to the Cambridge office
