We’re looking for a Design Development Engineer to join a leading technology company specializing in advanced optical and imaging systems. Based at their cutting-edge innovation hub in St Asaph, this role focuses on developing next-generation mechanical and opto-mechanical systems for Aerospace, Defence, and Life Sciences applications.

What You’ll Be Doing:

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Designing precision mechanical and opto-mechanical systems for complex electro-optical applications
- Developing mechanisms, enclosures, and sub-assemblies to support imaging and sighting systems
- Collaborating with suppliers and subcontractors to drive project success
- Producing 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and design documentation
- Conducting reliability analysis, sensitivity studies, and performance simulations
- Supporting prototype builds, testing, and qualification for aerospace and defence applications
- Working with business teams to translate customer needs into engineered solutions
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in mechanical design within a precision industry
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) and technical drawing standards (BS.8888)
- Experience designing precision mechanisms, enclosures, and electro-mechanical systems
- Understanding of materials, finishing techniques, and engineering tolerances
- Knowledge of FEA techniques for performance simulation
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to communicate technical concepts effectively
- Experience in opto-mechanical design
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Familiarity with military and aerospace qualification standards (MIL, STANAG, ECSS)
- Understanding of the full product lifecycle from concept to production
