Manufacturing Group Manager | Up to £60k | Wymondham | Automotive Technology
 
We're working on behalf of our client working in the automotive technology sector to look for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to take ownership of our production operations and lead a high-performing manufacturing team delivering complex, high-value engineering systems.

The Role
 
As Manufacturing Group Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the manufacturing function, ensuring production targets are achieved while continuously improving processes, systems and team capability.
 
Working closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement and Project teams, you'll oversee the build of multiple complex products simultaneously, ensuring resources, materials and production schedules are aligned to deliver on time and to the highest quality standards.
 
You'll also champion the effective use of ERP systems, using manufacturing data and reporting to optimise planning, inventory control and operational performance.
 
What You'll Be Doing
 
  • Lead, motivate and develop the manufacturing team, creating a positive, collaborative and high-performing culture.
  • Coach and mentor team members, supporting professional development and continuous learning.
  • Plan, schedule and prioritise manufacturing activities across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Manage production resources, materials and facilities to achieve delivery targets.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure materials and production plans are aligned.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing, quality and operational performance.
  • Ensure production data, Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings and work orders are accurately maintained within the ERP system.
  • Monitor KPIs, production performance and manufacturing metrics to identify risks, bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality and operational excellence throughout the manufacturing function.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company processes.
 
Job Requirements
 
  • Experience leading manufacturing or production teams.
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as IFS, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor or similar.
  • Knowledge of production planning, work orders, inventory management and manufacturing reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and project planning skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and complex production schedules.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use manufacturing data to drive operational improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
 
Desirable Experience
 
  • IFS ERP
  • Wrike project management software
  • Lean Manufacturing, 5S or other Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • BOM management, routings and inventory control
  • IOSH, NEBOSH or other Health & Safety qualifications
