Optical Design Engineer

Optical Design Engineer | Remote | Cutting-Edge Optics

We’re looking for an Optical Design Engineer to join a leading photonics and optical systems company, working on next-generation technology for high-performance applications.
In this role, you’ll design and develop advanced optical systems, from concept through to production. You’ll be part of a specialist team tackling complex optical challenges across multiple industries, including defence, industrial, and high-precision laser technologies.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Designing and simulating optical systems and components
• Developing lens designs and technical documentation
• Prototyping and supporting new product introduction
• Refining assembly processes for optical components
• Conducting Monte Carlo analysis for system performance
• Hands-on testing and validation of optical systems
• Contributing to factory and approval testing setups

What You’ll Need:

• 2:1 or above in Optical Engineering, Physics, or similar
• Strong understanding of optical system design
• Experience with Zemax or similar optical design tools
• Problem-solving mindset with a sharp eye for detail
• Hands-on, results-driven approach
• Team player with a proactive attitude
