Photonic IC Design Engineer | $230,000 – $300,000
About the Role
We are seeking a Photonic IC Design Engineer to design, simulate, and test photonic integrated circuit building blocks used in advanced optical systems.
This role involves close collaboration across photonics, electronics, and system engineering teams, from device-level development through integration and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, simulate, and experimentally validate photonic IC building blocks including modulators, filters, and photodetectors.
- Develop mathematical and behavioral models of photonic components for co-simulation with electronic circuits.
- Support the integration, bring-up, and testing of combined photonic and electronic ICs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to improve system performance and optimize device and circuit designs.
- Use scripting and programming tools (e.g., Python or MATLAB) to enable design automation, analysis, and simulation workflows.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in photonic device and photonic integrated circuit design.
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field, or MS with 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong understanding of optical transceiver architectures and system-level requirements.
- Experience with photonic device design, layout, and simulation methodologies.
- Proficiency with Cadence design environments and mixed-signal simulation.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical deliverables, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $230,000 – $300,000.
- Eligibility for performance-based bonuses and short- and long-term incentive programs.
- Competitive benefits package including health, life, and disability insurance, PTO, parental leave, and additional employee benefits.
