Principal FPGA Engineer - Chelmsford – Onsite

We are seeking a Principal FPGA Engineer to drive the development of FPGA code used in next-generation front end electronics products. 

Role:

• Develop FPGA code for electronic products
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team comprising electronics, FPGA, and embedded software engineers.
• Acquire an intimate knowledge of current and new FPGA devices and their operation.
• Write FPGA code and drive new FPGA development for the next generation of Front End Electronics (FEE) products for space.
• Develop FPGA designs using VHDL in Microchip Libero and Xilinx Vivado environments.
• Provide bid and business development support in collaboration with other team members.
• Review and specify technical proposals to ensure project feasibility and compliance.
• Conduct trade-off analyses to evaluate different design options and their implications.
• Supply accurate estimates for effort and material costs to support project planning and budgeting.

Experience required

• 5+ years of industrial experience in FPGA design using VHDL.
• Proficiency with Microchip Libero and/or Xilinx Vivado design environments.
• Experience in functional verification and timing analysis of FPGA designs.
• Strong skills in generating estimates and defining tasks for FPGA product delivery.
• Technical leadership and mentoring experience in FPGA development.
• Experience in authoring comprehensive technical documentation.
• Familiarity with electronic test equipment.
• Ideally experience within Aerospace, Defense, Spaceflight / Satellite industries
