Operations Manager | £60k-£70K | Manchester | Charity
We’re working in partnership with a purpose-driven charity in Manchester called The Bread and Butter Thing to recruit an Operation Manager who will play a key role in aligning operations, finance, HR, and governance to support long-term sustainability and growth.
This is a senior leadership role offering the chance to work directly with the CEO, CFO, and Board of Trustees — ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, operational delivery, and financial oversight.
The Opportunity
This role is central to enhancing business alignment, value for money, and compliance across the organisation. You'll shape and implement operational and financial strategy, lead on risk management, and ensure contract and supplier performance supports long-term goals.
Key Areas of Responsibility
• Strategic Planning & Financial Insight: Support executive decision-making with robust forecasting, reporting, and performance tracking.
• Operational Leadership: Improve systems, processes, and policies across HR, procurement, IT, and compliance.
• Governance & Risk: Own the risk register and ensure resilience across all regulatory frameworks.
• Contract & Supplier Management: Lead procurement, oversee subcontractor performance, and ensure strategic value from external relationships.
• People & Culture: Support HR functions, embed fair people practices, and champion a culture of accountability, well-being, and continuous improvement.
Ideal Profile
Essential experience:
• Proven senior-level background in operational and financial leadership.
• Strong strategic planning, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing risk, compliance, contracts, and organisational change.
Desirable:
• Experience working with boards, trustees, or funders.
• Clear, confident communicator with a strong track record in influencing at all levels.
• Experience managing externally funded contracts or grant income.
