Senior Mechanical Design Engineer | Automotive / Motorsport | Reading | Hybrid Working 

Our client, a renowned automotive supplier specializing in tailored equipment, has earned international acclaim as an award-winning innovator in driving innovation and delivering market-leading products.

They are currently in search of a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic R&D team. The company offers sponsorship and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities of Senior Design Engineer:

• Take ownership of individual design and development projects, reporting to the Chief Engineer.
• Ensure timely project delivery, actively participating in cost, specs, project timescale, and resource planning.
• Develop design concepts using 2D drawings, 3D models, and prototypes.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and procedures, conducting necessary verification and documentation.
• Oversee junior members of the Engineering team, maintaining effective communication with the shop floor, commercial, and manufacturing departments.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in an automotive or motorsport environment
• Previous experience in a leadership, man management, or project management position
• Proficiency with 3CAD, preferably NX & TeamCenter PLM, with design experience focused on rotating and reciprocating components
• Knowledge of manufacturing methodologies, specifically within machining and casting
• Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment working across multiple projects
• Ability to read and interpret 2D manufacturing and assembly designs

Nice to have:

• BEng or BSc, ideally in an engineering or aeronautical discipline
• Automotive quality experience, e.g., DFMEA and PPAP
• Demonstration of DFM
