Senior Signal Integrity Engineer
Santa Barbara, CA (Hybrid)
$220K–$250K + Bonus + Equity

We’re hiring a Senior Signal Integrity Engineer to lead the design, modelling, and validation of high-speed optical link platforms for next-generation AI data centre interconnects.
You will own end-to-end signal integrity across electrical and electro-optical channels—covering PCB, package, and photonic interfaces—ensuring performance at state-of-the-art baud rates and tight BER targets.

About the Company
An innovative, venture-backed technology company is developing next-generation optical communication solutions to enable faster, more efficient AI-driven data centres. Founded by leading experts in photonics, the company is building advanced photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technologies and novel link architectures to overcome the limitations of current data centre interconnects.

Key responsibilities
  • Own SI for high-speed links, including channel modelling, loss/reflection/crosstalk analysis, and equalisation strategy (FFE, DFE, CTLE)
  • Define and review high-speed channel architecture across PCB, package, connectors, and photonic interfaces
  • Drive SI design reviews with external partners and ensure performance margin targets are met
  • Support electrical-to-optical interface integrity (driver–modulator, TIA/receiver paths)
  • Guide high-speed PCB design (impedance control, return paths, vias, discontinuities)
  • Lead lab validation and bring-up (eye diagrams, BER, jitter, VNA/TDR)
  • Correlate simulation with measurement data and close performance gaps
  • Support integration of photonic ICs (coupling, packaging, wirebonding, flip-chip)
  • Collaborate on FPGA-based high-speed evaluation platforms
  • Act as technical bridge between internal teams and external partners

Requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or related field
  • Strong experience in high-speed signal integrity (100–200G+ per lane systems)
  • Experience with channel modelling, jitter analysis, and frequency/time-domain SI
  • Hands-on with equalisation techniques (FFE, DFE, CTLE)
  • Proven lab experience (oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs)
  • Experience correlating simulation with measurements
  • Strong understanding of high-speed PCB design and system-level hardware

What’s on offer
  • $220K–$250K + Bonus + Equity
  • End-to-end ownership of high-speed signal integrity in optical interconnect systems
  • Deep-tech startup environment working at the frontier of AI data centre connectivity

Equal Opportunity Statement
The company is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applications from all qualified individuals regardless of background. All employment decisions are made based on merit, qualifications, and business needs.
